Water leaves a Hampton Roads roof by way of the gutter, and the gutter is where pine needles and oak leaves pile up first. A sagging or clogged run sends that water behind the fascia and down the siding. The crew hangs new gutters, replaces tired ones, ties in downspouts that carry the water clear of the foundation, and fits guards to keep the debris out.
A chimney is the one place a roof has to meet masonry, and masonry and metal do not move together. Flashing that has lifted or cracked sealant is a common reason a ceiling stains near the fireplace. Roof Masters reflashes and seals the joint so the water runs over the chimney instead of behind it.
